From the CW2 Website:
The Cantonese Program of the University of British Columbia Department of Asian Studies is hosting the Second Cantonese Worlds (CW2) Workshop at UBC St. John’s College and the Richmond Public Library. First held in April 2015, the Cantonese Worlds Workshop (CW1) is a piloting event to begin an important conversation for leading scholars and observers regarding the transformations of the Cantonese cultures in the world over the past few decades. Now three years later since CW1, with the establishment of the popular Cantonese Language Program at UBC, CW2 aims to continue this process of discussion with guiding questions to shape future research, outreach, and public education in various areas of Cantonese studies. The 2-day workshop will feature an exciting mix of open forum discussion with established local and international researchers and educators, presentations by university students, screenings of films and an original musical, and a master class on lyric writing, etc.
All who are interested are welcome to attend and participate. RSVP here by June 17th, 2018.
Day 1 includes presentations by UBC LangSci members Zoe Lam, Raymond Pai, and Liam Doherty, and affiliate member Virginia Yip.
